Overview

This position will oversee frontline operations and site activities under the direction of site leadership and will also actively participate in site work (heavy equipment operation, truck driving, etc.) as needed. This position is also responsible for mechanical and electrical maintenance of all equipment utilized for the Beneficial Use Operation.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Take lead role on various project assignments
  • Provide equipment and task training to employees as needed
  • Safely load and/or move various materials (ash, dirt, rock, etc.) using heavy construction equipment
  • Drive and maneuver equipment equipped with blades in successive passes over working areas to remove topsoil, vegetation and rocks to distribute and level earth or terrain
  • Coordinate machine actions with other activities, positioning or moving loads in response to hand or audio signals from crew members
  • Inspect equipment before and after use to ensure it’s in proper working condition
  • Must be able to quickly and repeatedly adjust controls of machine to exact positions as necessary
  • Become familiar with the jobsite (key locations, haul roads, etc.)
  • Learn, follow, and promote all safety regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Perform preventive maintenance work orders on Beneficial Use Facility electrical and mechanical equipment as schedule requires
  • Perform preventive maintenance work orders on Beneficial Use Facility electrical equipment as per schedule
  • Perform preventive maintenance work orders on Beneficial Use Facility mechanical equipment as per schedule
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues in a timely manner to keep the Beneficial Use Facility on schedule. This could include replacing bearings, adjusting equipment, part replacement and repair of damage
  • Monitor all production equipment for operational performance. Work with management to improve performance
  • Resolve all electrical and PLC controls problems in a timely manner to keep the plant on schedule (This could include replacing motors, sensors, PLC programing and controls monitoring)
  • Be willing to learn to develop, and schedule the weekly maintenance work for the Beneficial Use Operation
  • Oversee the weekly work scheduled for Beneficial Use maintenance, assuring that the schedule is being adhered to
  • Be willing to learn to look up spare parts, generate, schedule, and complete work orders using the Maintain-X system
  • Provides any maintenance training necessary, I.E. bearing replacement, pneumatic systems, pump replacement, electrical, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or upper management

Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license required
  • 5+ years’ experience operating heavy equipment in a construction or similar environment required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel) required
  • Experience leading teams/projects required
  • Experience reading blueprints preferred
  • Experience operating in a production-focused environment preferred
  • Experience utilizing GPS grading systems (i.e. Trimble, Topcon) preferred
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in ash management, structural fills and landfills preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Current OSHA 30 construction safety certification required

Work Environment & Conditions

  • This position requires a flexible work schedule: nights, weekends, holidays, and/or overtime
  • Must be able to climb, maintain body equilibrium, reach, grasp, bend and walk/stand/sit for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to hear and see naturally or with correction
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Be subject to loud noises
  • Be subject to atmospheric conditions - one or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin: fumes, odor, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation
  • This position requires working in the internal and external environment
  • Ability to work independently and as a team
  • Ability to work under pressure with time constraints in a changing environment
  • Ability to effectively communicate

 

equipment and Tools

  • PPE will be provided
  • Must have steel toe safety boots
  • Must supply hand tools, power tools, toolbox, and meters to accomplish all tasks
